This movie was one of those artsy, fartsy, introspective whatevers that are supposed to be deep. That type of stuff usually drives me crazy. Thing is, I didn't hate this movie. I just got continually frustrated by Zooey Deschanel's character. There were parts of this movie that were entertaining, creative, and fun. But most of it was kind of just depressing. It truly is the evolution of a relationship, sometimes really good, others pretty darn bad. Overall, I was left sort of in the middle on this movie. There were things I liked, others I didn't. It's worth a watching, but you might not love the style or the storyline.

What he said:

It started out a little typical for me. A standard chick-flick, but as the movie goes on it gets a lot better. It's still sappy, mopey, and even a little too whinny at times, but it was actually a very good coming of age story. That's actually pretty rare for characters in their late 20's and early 30's.

Coming of age movies are usually about tweens or teen angst. Maybe sometimes college life. But this movie seemed to get that you don't stop having problems once school is over. People of all different walks of life have problems, especially with relationships.

This movie was a pleasant treat.
