What he said:
This is a challenging review, because I do not want to give a
whole lot away.
This movie comes off like one thing, but is really another. Just
give it a chance. I think you will be pleasantly surprised. It is
not I Know What You Did Last Summer or some other cookie cutter,
teen slasher flick. It's much more clever than I would have
originally given it credit for. It is actually quite funny at times
too, mostly due to the chemistry of the two main stars.
Long before Justin Long started dating Drew Barrymore, he was in
this movie. He plays one half of the brother/sister duo of Darry and
Trish. The other half is played by someone named Gina Philips, who
unfortunately did not go on to become as popular as he has.
Regardless, their chemistry as brother and sister is dead on. Their
back and forth banter is totally believable and is one of the
biggest strengths of the film. I really believed these two were
related and it really helped carry the film.
Of course there's the villain too! I can't really talk about him
all that much without spoiling the movie for you. You definitely
shouldn't judge this book by its cover.
Rating: Thumbs up.
